Colette Lambert

I have always been a very creative person. From a young age I was either helping my father in his workshop or my mother with her sewing. During my 29 years as a teacher, I was able to my creativity to good use in the classroom, infusing art into everything I taught. I also enjoyed many years working in community theatre as a costumer. I especially enjoyed the work I did for 10 years with the Dalhousie University Opera Workshop. And of course, the numerous school productions over the years.

Since retiring I have been able to explore my creativity. And oh, the places it has taken me! I amaze myself with what I have been able to create. A big part of my success has been due to the knowledge and support I received in our weekly paint group under the guidance of Sandy Moser. Those ladies have given me the confidence and encouragement I needed to ‘just try’.

Creating Llama Works Studio has been key to my development as an artisan. I have forged myself a place of Zen tranquility and creativity. I spend hours there lost in the process of bringing my ideas to life. I have become a painter, a sculptor, a wood worker and more in the process!

A oneness with nature is important to me. A great deal of my inspiration comes from the woods and shore and ocean around me. Natural materials like rocks and driftwood are integral to some of my creations.

You can find my work at local markets throughout the year along the Eastern Shore, in the Taproom of the Sober Island Brewing Company in Sheet Harbour, and the Llama Works Studio page on Facebook.  If you come visit the studio you will even get to meet the sheep and chickens who inspire their funky versions!
